The lower face, the jawline and the neck are where most Genius patient studies were done. They are also where radiofrequency microneedling earns its place between a surface treatment and a lift: heat placed in the dermis, the deeper layer of the skin, firms the skin, smooths crepey texture and softens the early slackening along the jaw, without surgery or filler. In a 2026 study of 53 patients, in two groups with average ages of 51 and 56, treatment on the lower face and neck reduced the volume under the chin, alone and with a laser, with no serious side effect. A 2025 study of 30 patients found the change in volume rising with the total energy delivered. What it does here

• Texture and fine lines: the crepey skin of the neck and the lines around the mouth smooth as the surface and the dermis repair. A 2017 split-face study of radiofrequency microneedling, not of Genius, found deeper treatment improved the nasolabial fold more than shallow treatment at three and twelve months.
• Firmness: the skin of the lower face and neck firms as the collagen rebuilds over about six months, in the manufacturer's account; the clearance word for the tissue effect is contraction.
• Under the chin: the Genius studies measured less volume under the chin after one to three sessions.

What it does not do

It does not lift a jowl that has dropped, remove a fold of loose skin or add volume to a cheek that has lost it; those are muscle, surgical or filler questions, and the clinician says which at the consultation. The session and after

Numbing cream for 30 to 45 minutes in our practice. The tip stamped across the lower face, jawline and neck zone by zone, deeper over the jaw and under the chin and shallower on the neck in our practice, 20 to 45 minutes. In our experience the jawline and the neck feel it most. Redness and swelling for one to three days, sometimes five, light crusting for up to five days in our experience, no make-up on the first day, sunscreen daily. Who it suits

Adults, in our experience most often in their forties and fifties, with crepey texture, fine lines or early laxity of the lower face, jawline or neck, on most skin types, darker skin included after assessment, with darker skin treated at lower energy after a patch test in our practice. The usual exclusions apply: pregnancy and breastfeeding, an active infection or cold sore, keloid scarring, recent isotretinoin (Roaccutane), a bleeding disorder or blood thinners, an implanted device or metal near the area.
